It's a long way from ready. I played around with the betas, up until the
most recent one. It's slow, it bombs out a lot, and it doesn't seem as
if Zone Alarm is too interested in moving it along. There had been a
subforum on its site to discuss the beta, but that seems to have
disappeared now.
I would not recommend it.
The Kaspersky suite is about to be released. It works very well.
I wouldn't bother. The Vista firewall is perfectly adequate, especially if
you're behind a broadband router of some kind with NAT and it's own
firewall.
The less low-level third party code you've got messing in the guts of
Vista the better, I reckon.

I agree with you. I ran ZoneAlarm Security Suite for several years
with XP. Had some problems with a couple of the 6.X versions, but I
was satisfied overall. I was ready to reinstall ZA after I did a
clean install of VISTA in Feb., but no version was ready. In the
interim I have been using AVG Free. It doesn't seem to use all the
resources ZA does, and considering all the security enhancements in
VISTA, I think I will stick with the status quo.
Yes, I'm running the recently released Vista compatible ZoneAlarm Free on
Vista Business. The UI appears exactly the same as previous versions - if
you're familiar with it then setup is a no-brainer. I had no problems
installing and it seems to be working as expected.
