You can disable Flash animations in websites by setting a kill-bit for this
ActiveX control:

{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
Shockwave Flash Object
C:\WINDOWS\system32\macromed\flash\flash.ocx

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX
Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}

In the right-pane, create a REG_DWORD named "Compatibility Flags" and set
it's value to 400.

..REG file
-----------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX
Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}]
"Compatibility Flags"=dword:00000400

There are third-party utils like Spyware Blaster, SpyBot S&D, TurnFlash
which can automate the same.
TurnFlash v2.10 (User Interface Version):

I use the Windows Hosts File (found here:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm) to block all
pop up adds, but a lot of new pop ups use Macromedia
Flash Player, and they are still getting through.

Is there any way to disable Macromedia Flash Player in
Internet Explorer?

There is a program out there called noflash, that you can
install and use when you feel like it, it sits in the task
bar and allows you to switch back and forth as you desire.
I love it..
