Any way to add network drive to Indexed Locations?

Tim

I would like to create a "Search Folder" with all files of a certain type
(like Excel files) that are on my computer, and on a network computer. I
can create a search that just searches the network drive (this is slow), or
a search that just searches my computer, but I can't combine the two. It
would be nice to add the network drive to my "Indexed Locations" but I see
no way to do this, even if the network drive is mapped. The problem is, if
the network drive is not "pre-indexed", the Search Folder is too slow to be
of any practical use.

Is this something that just can't be done in Vista?

Sorry, no definite answer for you, but...

1. By default offline files are included in indexed locations so if you make
a shared folder available offline, offline cache will be indexed by search
engine.

2. There's an addon available [2] for WDS 3.0 on Windows XP [1] that enables
it to search UNC paths so I guess same functionality should be available for
Vista either in RTM or as a downloadable add-on/power toy/ultimate extra.

Thanks. Offline folders isn't really what I want - creating an offline
folder means creating a local copy and syncing with the network original,
which defeats the purpose of wanting to index the network folder. The
add-on for WDS is exactly what I'm looking for - isn't it strange that XP
has more functionality in this area than Vista?
