Any one experieced a problem with an RTF file somehow converting .

File has an RTF extension but when opened it looks as if internally it was
converted to text see sample:

Is there a way to recover it?

Might you have opened it with "Recover Text from Any File" set in the Open
dialog?

Go to tools/option/general and check the box confirm conversion at open.
Then open your file from the file/open menu and not by double-clicking it
and you will have your text as it was and you can place lines etc....

I'm not sure what may have happened to the file it is not mine. It belongs to
an internet friend who is not PC savy. The Tools - Options - General -
Confirm Conversion allowed me to select but none of the options recognized it
as an RTF and converted it. It still came in looknig as text. The lady with
the problem may have several files in this condition. If anyone thinks they
can convert it, I can e-mail it. It is notes from genealogy research.

Was finally able to recover, I beleive, most of the file. Opened it in word,
did a CTRL-A, CTRL-C. Opened notepad and did CTRL-V, saved as xxxx.rtf. It
then opened in Word. Had to turn off the ask to convert in Tools - Options
first though. Thanks for those who responded.
