Any negative side effects, if I deactivate the search service?

I think many will agree, that the search in vista is a bit lacking..
If you deactivate search, will it have any side effects on other
components?

Be careful because known side effects could be:

Deafness and kidney failure and sometimes diarrhea. Hair loss an anemia may
also be caused, and in older folks Insomnia, Erectile Dysfunction, fever,
Lactic acidosis and occasionally seizures, stroke or heart attack. Bleeding
of the intestine in younger adults and occasionally headache and
hypertension.

Other than that, I don't know of any other side effects on components.

Hm. That means, the search function prevents with its disk trashing
unhealty radiation that is caued by modern, fast hard disks, and thus
prevents all the illnesses you described?
