Frustrated

Any file I open shows up in the Explorer history. This
occurs even if Explorer is not running when I open the
files but they show up in the history the next time I
open Explorer. I am running Windows XP Pro both at home
and the office. It does not do this at the office but
does at home. Is there a setting to prevent this??
Thanks

Try disabling AutoComplete for web addresses.

Also there used to be an option in Advanced tab which isn't there
any more in XP but which might still be supported as a compatibility
option by adding the same registry value that used to be associated
with that old option. FWIW the two things I am referring to are:

Old checkbox: Use inline AutoComplete in Windows Explorer
Old registry value name: Use AutoComplete

That would go in the same subkey where you see
value names: AppendCompletion and AutoSuggest

The value equivalent to having it unchecked would be "no"

BTW the first string does appear in inetcplc.dll and the second
does appear (sort of) in browseui.dll but it is not clear that
either string would be used for their old purposes.

If you try this I hope you know how to back up your registry and
perform a recovery with the backed up version. ;o

Good luck
