any 80 GB drives with jumper for 32 GB limit?

Does anybody make an 80 GB hard disk with jumper that
limits it to 32 GB? (IDE)
I need to replace hard disk for a computer that can
only handle 32 GB.
A few years ago, a bought a 40 GB drive with such a
jumper, and it seems 80 GB is the smallest now.
I wish to get a new drive, not a used jobby from
eBay, which would be too risky.

Hi u235bomb, and why not look for a BIOS Update?
The 32 GB limit is out of age! This was FAT32 usage.
Otherwise the HDD jumper info will reflect this.
It depends on the HDD manufacturer.
See the info label attached at Your used drive.

Please tell Your Motherboard ID and manufacturing date.
Also the BIOS version.
The 32 GB limit should be no problem nowadays.

Any drive can be set to any limit that you want, by software.
The only requirement is having another system available without that size limitation (or that at least passes it without hanging
itself up) to do it on.

HitachiGST Feature Tool can do that.

You can try to use a notebook HDD, since you should
be able to get them smaller than 32GB. You can also go
for a solid state drive.

The real solution would however be to remove the Limit.
One possibility is to get an (S)ATA controller (I like
Promise), that has its own BIOS. Then you can use
a larger HDD.

Yes, quite a few do.

That isnt the only way to handle that problem.

Nope, it was a bug in the award bios.

He appears to want to decide which he can order,
and that 32G jumper isnt always on the label anyway.

Better to use the hard drive manufacturer's web site instead.

It can be with manufacturers that have gone bust particularly.
