I have just downloaded and installed this latest version. When I run it I
still get the message saying it will expire on Dec 31st 2005. When I look in
'Help - About...' it is still version 1.0.615. Has anyone else had this
problem?

The first download was direct from the Microsoft website.
Later I opened Antispyware again. This time another window appeared, saying
that a newer version was available. I clicked to download. When I installed,
after this download, it required a restart. After the restart Version 1.0.701
was there.

Hi Mike,

Me too, did have the same problem and despite the re-download and the
re-install got the same dialog box saying as Expired: 31st December 2005.

I was unable to access the app and the updating to 1.0.701.

The way to resolve this is to find the MS AntiSpyware target in Program
Files in the PC. To do this just right click on properties of Microsoft
AntiSpyware shortcut link on desktop and then click 'Find Target'.

You then look for GIANTAntiSpywareUpdater.exe and click on this one and a
new dialog box came up saying a new version is available and would like to
update?

You then submit Yes, the dialog box came up to download the updates from
Microsoft's server and the installation of version 1.0.701 as done
successfully.

It is now working and resolved as the new version takes it to 31st July 2006.

Chris

Thank youn Chris.

Mike - you've been hit by a distribution channel issue of some sort. Your
original download, even though it may have been initiated from a page
reference .701, was, in fact, .615.

This may have been an error at the Microsoft end, or perhaps in a caching
server between you and Microsoft--an ISP or corporate cache.

You were then lucky enough to get the correct bits via the automatic update
mechanism within the product.

Sorry for the extra effort and the confusion, but alls well that ends well,
I hope.

Nice one Chris and Mike, this is the only easy and successful method to
update, you guy's need to refer more people to this link.

Regards
Salim
