Vista Ultimate has the NOD32 antivirus built-in with the Operating System.
Is it advisable to install the AVG antivirus also alongwith the NOD32 or
will there be problems of conflict ?
Please someone advise because this is my first time with the choice of 2
Antivirus installations.
Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

It's very unrecommended to install more then one antivirus at the same time
on system. It can cause unpredictible effects like blue screens, undetected
malware soft. or limited functionality. Actually you shouldnt you even few
antispyware apps which have an live monitors.

"Vista Ultimate has the NOD32 antivirus built-in..."
False, where did you get that misinformation?

Both are good, use whichever you are most comfortable and will
properly use.

Generally it is a bad idea to have 2 anti virus active at the same
time since they may see the action as the other as malware and/or have
other conflicts.
If you do use 2 or more, be sure only one is active at a time.

That is incorrect. Vista Ultimate does not have a built-in anti-virus.
Neither NOD32 nor any other anti-virus is built-in.

Never install more than one anti-virus program on a system. To do so can
and will cause major problems.

I think you mean the manufacturer of the machine installed NOD32, maybe
as a trial version, it is certainly not part of Vista. Everybody who I
know that uses NOD32 says it's very effective and very reliable and I
have found AVG very good and reliable so if you feel you should have two
then those seem like good choices, however do NOT have them both running
at the same time, use one for manually scanning if you wish but NOT
while the other is running. Personally I would just stick with what you
have got and not risk problems. If they do get run together and don't
get along well they may break your system.

No, that's not correct. Vista has *no* anti-virus built into it,
neither NOD32 nor anything else.

However *your* computer, if it came with Vista, may have *also* had
NOD32 installed by the manufacturer.

You can install as many anti-virus programs as you want, but be sure
never to have two or more of them running at once. Problems caused by
conflicts are likely.

Never install 2 anti-virus programs! NOD32 is a very good one keep it at
that!

Never install 2 anti-virus programs!

No, as I said in my earlier message in this thread, there's nothing
wrong with installing multiple anti-virus programs. What's wrong is
*running* two or more at once.

Many people do install more than one, and run scans with each of them
at different times. Although it may be overkill for most people, it
can't hurt.

No, it doesn't.

There are likely to be conflicts if you have both anti-virus
applications running simultaneously, yes.

NOD32 is only a 3 month trial so uninstall it go with avg free it does ok
for most users most of the software installed on your system will be crapware
same as mine the first thing to do is uninstall it and leave your os only
..When i bought mine it was loaded with useless software and web links all
preinstalled you can regain a lot of disc space doing this
