Recently there was a recommendation on one of these pages by an MVP for Grisoft. I followed this up and went through the application and downloaded. Now that the icon is on my desktop there is a warning message from microsoft "......(the file)...is not a valid Win32 application."

Naturally I am puzzled and would appreciate some advice.

Thank you

sounds like a corrupted download. it happens.
I have been using AVG antivirus & it seems to be doing the job
The price is right :)

There are atleast two possibilities.
1. The download might be corrupt
2. It is not for the correct platform (download the 2000/XP version if
available)

Ramesh,
Thanks to you and 'notme'.
I deleted the original d/l, and went through the procedure again. Same
result. I cannot use Grisoft.
There doesn't appear to be an option for a different d/l to choose from when
I want the free version.

Anything else I can try?

You got a bad download (probably only 4.7 MB). Don't try to download
the apparent link to the .exe - click the Download now at the bottom,
and wait, some time, for it to come up asking whether to run or save
(I'd save and have it some place where you could run again). By that
time a lot of the download has taken place. It should be around 5.8MB

Thanks, CS.

Hello James:

I'm not Alex - but I can tell you that AVAST received very good
reviews in a recent Langa letter. I also know at least one computer
professional who highly recommends using it. AVG is also a very good
AV program. Both are free.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. I downloaded 4 times and No 4 was ok -
the full 5.82Mb. All seems right now.
Thank again.
