Why does ad-aware always find more spyware than microsofts program? If I run
M's program it may find 1 or none and ad-aware finds several. I have run it
both ways. M's first then AA or vice versa.

I only run Microsoft's and it does not find any. But, I always use
common sense when it comes to computing. I don't visit those sites and
I only use limited account for everyday browsing. My system is
up-to-date in every which way you care to describe.

The fact that ad-ware finds something does not prove anything. It only
finds history files most of the time but it is not really a problem for
me.

Probably because M's program is not built to find somethings, cookies etc.
It is still an unfinished product but is still one of the best.

Don't just rely on one anti-spyware program. Run several in Safe Mode to be
safe. It's a pain but most of the time, they don't find anything of consequence.
I launch one and then go watch TV. Then I return and launch another spyware
scan. At the end of the spyware scans, I run a deep antivirus scan. By the time
all of this has completed, am reasonably confident that nothing serious is lurking
on my system. No guarantees but...

Then I run Casper XP to copy my "C" drive to my "D "drive. This completes a
typical weekly spyware/antivirus/backup run.

For the record, I launch 4 Antispywares & Norton AV and go watch TV (slows
to a crawl). The more the better I always say.

You run all five at the same time? I'm surprised the machine even functions
during those simultaneous scans.

Really?! That's quite amazing. Would have never thought to launch
four antispyware apps and one antivirus app at the same time. Can't
imagine why your PC would slow to a crawl. (Smile.)

Isn't there a federal law against cruel and unusual punishment being
inflicted on a PC? Bet you can hear your HDD heads grinding away
even in your TV room. (Grin.)
