AntiSpy /Java Horror

Andries

MS AntiSpy failed to detect CWS SmartSearch, which came
out at the beginning of this month.
When I ran cmd jview I found out to my horror that
javascript version 2600 is still installed on my pc. I'm
running XP Home Edition SP2, with all later patches
installed. Automatic Update mode is selected.
Express Update Install failed to update java en so did
Custom Update Install. No critical updates were found.
What must I do to get the latest java version installed?
Can anybody let me know soonest? CWS rates among the most
viscious malware and is very difficult if not impossible
to remove. All systems running javascript versions under
3810 is fully exposed to CWS attacks.
As is, Microsoft is leaving me up the creek twice: by
failing to upgrade javascript and AntiSpy failing to
identify an remove the latest CWS infection. If Antispy
can't remove CWS infections at at all, failure to update
java is all the more inexcusable.
Click Start, Select run and enter
cmd jview
in the pop-up panel.
The last four digits in Version indicates the java
version. If it's anything under 3810 CWS will chew up
your system the moment you click on any infected website.

Andries,

There is NO MSJVM installed on an XP SP2 system.
http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/

Go to Sun and download their latest JRE : JRE 5.0 Update 1
http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs...5.0_01-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noreg

Get the Windows Offline Installation package, save it, close IE, then
install it.
