After scanning my fileswith AVG 6.0, I check my test
results and I have some files that were not scanned
because the files would not open. There are a total of 16
files that are unable to be opened, mostly from my
documents and settings files; 2 files from Documents and
Settings\ All users, 4 files from Doc and set\Local Ser.,
4 files from Doc and Set\network, 4 files from Doc and
Set\OWNER, 1 file Windows\System 32\config, Testing
D:\volume Presario_RPs and C:\HIBERFIL.SYS. Why are these
files unable to open?

Something doen't sound right there. Files don't have to be "opened" to be
scanned. Maybe those were ones that were *already* open. Even then, they
could be scanned, but if they were infected they couldn't be deleted.
(I think) :-)

They will be basic windows files, such as the ones in System32\config
(the registry) and the ntuser.dat and .log etc in each user's folder
(His USER branch of it) which are opened by the system for updating at
all times. That means other programs cannot open them - and that
applies to viruses trying to write even more than to AV programs trying
to read.
