Anti-Virus problem on LAN, suggestions???

C

We have a small network, less than 15 machines. We have w2k server
running active directory.

Up until now we have been using Norton Systemworks 2003 without any
problems.

However, we recently upgraded our server. Now we have a CRM program
which, while it resides on the server is not run from the server -
that is, it is loaded from the server to the client machines and rhen
run locally.

This is where the problems started. Machines are running very slowly.

After some investigation...

The "auto-protect" feature of Norton Anti-virus (which is part of
Systemworks) is the culprit! Seems that "auto-protect" does NOT have
an option to turn off scanning for data which resides on a trusted
machine - like our server! Oh sure, you can use "smart" (NOT) scanning
and turn off scannning for .exe files, but that kinda defeats the
purpose! :(

I have heard that Symantec does have a product which can do this,
anyone know which one it is???

Or possibly any recommendations about a good, yet inexpensive,
solution for client machines on a network????

All help greatly apreciated.

Thanks

We have been using Symantec's Corporate AV, version 8.x with no such
problems (Win2K server, Win98 + WinXP clients). We have not upgraded to the
newer 9.x because of rumored problems.
