In response to the news, Yamaha has stopped selling their Anti-static
Polyester Piano Cleaning Spray... or that is bottling it under their name,
another company sells the same product (albeit one 1/4 of the size at 2 oz
for the same price). Cory High Gloss polish is available from -

Klear Screen (recommended for LCD, Plasma, Plastic) has an 8 oz spray bottle
suitable for scanners, being 100% ANTI-STATIC, ALCOHOL & AMMONIA FREE.
It's quite possible it's the same generic solution (or very close) to the
Polyester polishing spray (also silicon free).

Polishing cloths are also available.

My search also revealed companies selling similar anti-static solutions in
greater types and quantities.

Without going into lengthy research and emails pestering the various
companies, I'm unable to determine if some of the anti-static solutions
(under various labels) are one and the same. Obviously, all produce a
non-attracting surface on buffering (gloss, satin or matt finish), and only
the MSDS or warning information will confirm if that suitable for glass (&
lenses) is also suitable for plastics.

For the benefits of this Bulletin board "Scanners", the Klear Screen
product appears the best and cheapest (8 oz lasts for ages, as you only
lightly spray the glass).

After 2.5 years using the Yamaha product, just over half the 8 oz bottle
remains. Today I emailed Yamaha, to find out more about the maker of the
of the solution... so I will have to wait for an outcome on this.
