answer to my scanning question response

I am disappointed by the response I received through this service.

Douglas Steele was quite sarcastic in his response. I am a new user and not
a young user either and I thought that I might be able to obtain useful info
from you. I see that is not an option for a novice user. One must be quite
experienced to ask a question and not get a cocky answer.

you posted that question in the early hours of Sunday morning, marge. Doug
told you that this is not the correct newsgroup to get help or information
about scanners. his response was correct, and hardly "quite sarcastic". yet,
even though you obviously read his response, 36 hours later you posted the
same question again in a new thread in this same newsgroup.

the first step in obtaining useful information from internet newsgroups is
to try to ask in the right place. the second step is to pay attention to the
responses you get. now you may call that sarcasm; i call it irritation -
that you wasted server space, and the time of the two people who've answered
your second post in the last ten minutes, not knowing that you were already
given the same answer a day and a half ago.

Marge,

I'm sorry about your experience. I'm sure it was not intentional and I know
there has been a misunderstanding.
This is a discussion forum for Microsoft Access, the database software
product made by Microsoft. As such, the topic of discussions revolves around
that product. The people who answer questions here are experts of the topic
of the forum, in this case Microsoft Access. They are volunteers, they do
not get paid to answer questions, and this forum is not really not a
*service* either. It is merely a forum where everyone exchanges ideas about
something very specific (again, in this case it is Microsoft Access database
software).

What should have happened is someone should have replied to you that you are
in the wrong forum and that you should find the correct forum to ask your
question which deals with scanning and problems with scanning. The
volunteers in these forums are very knowledgeable and very helpful, you
would find that they are many times more invaluable than the typical
technical support (i.e. technical support of your scanner's manufacturer).
But again, you should find the correct forum.

I'm sorry you were insulted, but in rereading my answer
Sorry: this newsgroup is for questions about Access, the database product
that's part of Office Professional.

I'd suggest asking the manufacturer of your scanner, as the answer may well
vary by hardware. Having said that, though, I can't imagine why scanning
would use ink.

I fail to see anything sarcastic in that.

Looks like we need to penalize you by deducting 5% of the pay that you get
for answering these questions. Of course 5% of nothing is nothing so you
aren't out much. ;-)

Now THAT, on the other hand, could be a sarcasm... no? :-)
