Is there a program which can take a batch of images of various sizes and
resize them all to fit the screen (800x600)? I can do this with Irfanview by
viewing to fit the screen, an then capturing the screen image with Ctrl-F11,
but I have about 800 images to convert and there must be an easier way.

You can do it in IrfanView,
use IrfanView's Batch Conversion with Advanced Options
Set both sides to 800 x 600 pixels
and uncheck "Preserve aspect ratio (proportional)"

With Fookes Easy Thumbnails you can do that,
if the images are in the same directory and are in
JPG and/or PNG format.

Set the setting for resize to "Stretch to fit"

Thanks, CoMa. I never cease to be amazed at the things Irfanview can do
(nor by the speed with which problems can be solved by ACFers).
