I changed vid card from a bfg 6800 ultra to a bfg7800gt and now sometimes
when i switch pc on it doesnt boot and monitor on light just flashes, then if
i hit the reset button it will boot as normal. It doesnt do it all the time
either and have the same monitor driver installed and using the same driver
set that i had in with previous card(forceware 84.21). also i have a hiper
trype r 580watt PSU. any ideas?

Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

I have the same problem with my new PC that I built a few months ago. As you
say, it will work correctly if the reset button is used. It only ever
happens about one in every 20-50 startups, so I am not overly concerned.
I was told that it could be due to a dodgy CPU PSU connection, but it was
not a problem that cured what I am getting.
Maybe when you changed over the video card, you knocked the PSU connectors.
Have a look and see if this cures your problem, but I would not hold your
breath.
If you are getting this problem very often, then Detlev could be right, but
if it is on a similar reoccurence as I am getting, then I would not be
overly concerned.
