Another local to remote Question

Background: I manage a website from work, at noon, but it's taking too much
time so need to do it from home. The workplace management is great.
Everything works.

Local at-home computer: Published the website from remote location to
at-home location. This website began via a personal homepage, with a host
that advises

"even though FP extension are not available for personal homepae users, you
can do your website using FP. Start by going to "file" "Publish" "web" and
then typing in ftp://ftpimg.net when the window pops up. (I think that's
what I did). "FP will then look for the IMG Resource Services Server. When
the next window pops up put in your user name and password and click OK.
Your website will automatically upload/publish. When the window pops up
saying it's finished, close it all and go see your website on
http://www.img.net/personalpages/yourusername/ using your browser. You won't
be able to use the "click here to view your published web site" feature after
FP has finished uploading because it points to the ftp site not your http
site.

OK.... back to me now....I thought tonight to try a minor change in the
index page. Can access http site via internet. So, on the remote site...
edit with front page... make my change... the publish button is not available
- greyed out...

On the local site, make the change, publish button is available, but the
function does not complete and requests sharepoint services.

I want to do this from home completely, what oh what am I missing in this
technical education? I guess I still don't understand the http/ftp and I'm
cursing my ignorance! (and that's not like me at all).

You are mixing to subjects
How is the work managed web related to a personal web (presumably on your ISP)

If the work managed web has the FP SE and you can open it in FP from work, you would do the same w/ FP from home (not w/ FTP)

If the work managed web does not have the FP SE and you can not open it in FP from work, you will not be able to do it from home
either
- use FTP for both locations

If you can access the page to make changes on the remote, why not just
"Save" back to the remote vice publish? That should update the file as you
want it on the remote.

You can't publish to the remote site because you already edited on the
remote site. For that to match what you have on your computer you need to
publish it back from the remote site.
