Hi. Am trying to install xp onto a clean HD (now been formatted,
fdisked and so on - and used pqmagic to try to make sure the thing is
clean) but after it's done copying files ready for install, the thing
reboots and then keeps on rebooting. I reckon it's a hardware issue -
but not sure how to establish which component is shot (don't have
access to materials such as replacement memory, cables, etc). Anyone
know of any (freeware?) 'boot from floppy/cd' software that can help me
find out? thanks in advance. mojo

basic way to start is ...remove everything except

your video adapter and 1 stick of memory

if the problem goes away ...start adding the cards/components back in one by
one

Thanks for that... except there's not much else to remove - sound is on
board, hard/floppy/cd drives i think i need, only 1 stick of memory in
board, no modem or other cards, either. thanks. mojo
