annoying recurring front page installation message

J

JILL DAVIS

I keep getting this annoying dialog box that starts to install MO XP Pro
with Front Page. Then it tells me it is unsuccessful. When I hit cancel (the
only option), I get another box with "error 1706" and saying it can't find
the right files. When I hit OK it starts all over again and jsut goes on and
on and on in a vicious cycle!!! I can't do anything when it is on my screen.
Please help!!!

Also, does anyone know how to get rid of xlime offer optimizer!?

Thx,
J

You receive an “Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files,” error message when you run Office XP Setup on a Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0 compute:

Thanks - you indicated two answers. Are thye both for front page? Or is one
for xlime? And also, there is not opportunity for me to even insert a disk.
It doens't ask me to do that - it only says "trying to install "

The previous solution applies for Windows Installer issues. Removing the installer information for FrontPage and then reinstalling it should fix the problem (assuming that FrontPage is already installed).

For xlime offer optimizer, it looks like a malware. http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&q=Xlimeofferoptimizer. Run a scan using Ad-aware, with updated reference file.
