Annoying program removal?

Don P

Does anyone know how to remove programs that have somehow
attached themselves to my computer. Of specific interest
are the programs called "Bargain Buddy" and "Lycos
Sidesearch." I don't know how these programs managed to
attach themselves but when I try to delete them in
Windows, I get a message that says they are protected
files. Why did windows assign protection to these files
when I neither wanted them installed and now want to
install them. Shouldn't there be a routine that permits
you to uninstall or screen these programs from attaching
themselves to your computer? The way I've found these
programs is through Norton. Any help would be appreciated.

Protected Files? You sure that is what it said. If not - rename, reboot, delete.

Download an ad removal program, such as "Ad-aware
or "Spybot". I used both and got rid of all that you
mentioned. Both are free and can be found at
