It sounds nice, but it's not free. Is there any freeware that does
this? Because MDAC doesn't come with .NET, and Windows 2000 users need
to install MDAC separately to run .NET database application. It's
anoying to redistribute my application that uses database.

Hi,

All we do is make VistaDB so it would be hard for us to make it freeware.
We did the next best thing -- we made it affordable.
VistaDB .NET Edition is $179. Royalty free, so you can build and deploy
your apps as you did with Jet/MDAC. We give you the 2-User VistaDB Server
for free, which Jet/MDAC does not have. Thats also royalty free deployments.
So you can build both embedded and client/server apps.

Another point is that Jet/MDAC is 20MB - 30MB in size and consists
of a lot of files. VistaDB consists of 2-3 files at most and has a a total
footprint of less than 1MB. You can build a full-featured SQL database
application with VistaDB that is 2-3MB in size total. That means it
can be deployed VERY easily over the Internet. You can't do that with
Jet, and you definitely can't do that with MSDE or SQL Server Express.
