Animation

Some animations work while other don't. For instance, I
can visit a web site with animated gifs, but they
don't "animate." However, the animations in the banners
work just fine. Is this a problem someone could help me
with? I found a damaged ActiveX file, updated it,
downloaded macromedia flash player and shockwave. This
help with some of the animation, but not all. Am I not
holding my mouth right?

Look in Toole/Internet Options/Advanced Tab. Scroll down to the Multimedia
section and make sure that "Play animations on web pages" is selected.

.
Thanks, Ronnie. I looked and it is checked. I just
discovered that if I hoover over a pic that should be
animated, right click and then click on "Refresh Picture
With Full Quality" then the animation begins. Likewise if
I right click and then click on "Refresh Page With Full
Quality" then all the animations on the page work. Is
there somewhere I can go to instruct the system to do this
instead of having to do it with every pic/page?

Thank you for your help.

I haven't seen that item "Refresh Page With Full Quality" on any of the IE
default menus? What program do you have running that displays this menu?
This could also be something proprietary with certain websites.

Thanks, again, Ronnie. I am using IE 6.0. It does it on
all web sites so it is not proprietary. As far as the
running program, I have looked in my task manager and I do
not see anything unusual going on there just a lot of
system programs and IE.exe files.

You shouldn't be seeing multiple instances of IE unless you opened more
than one browser. Scan with a current (post-2002 version using updated
definitions) antivirus program. Also, check to be sure you don't have
spyware on your system with Spybot Search & Destroy
(www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com).

Are you running a internet "accelerator" program?
These so called "accelerator" claim to increase
you internet speeds up to 5 times. They do not
increase your internet connection speed, but reduce the
amount of data downloaded to display a web page, mainly
graphics. You should have an icon somewhere (system tray?)
that you can click, select options, and set the quality
of graphics from high quality to poor quality. Poorer the
quality the faster the web page is downloaded.
They will offer an option to "Refresh Page With Full Quality"
that you are referring to. "Propel" is one such accelerator.
Hope this helps...Dave

Thanks, Malke & Dave. It is indeed an accelerator
program. I figured it out and thought I'd come back and
let you know I'd resolved my problem. Thank you for all
your assistance. You guys (and gals) are Grade A #1!!
