Animation will not show on slide show

I am using custom animation in a slide show. The animation I choose shows up
in the correctly in the task pane and shows up on the preview, but will not
show up in the actual slide show. I have sucessfully set up what I want on
other slides in the same show, but can not get them to work for one slide.
Basically, the animation won't start when I tell it to. If I say "on click"
it does it "after previous" on the slide show. I have tried removing all
animation from the slide and starting over, but this did not solve the
problem. Any ideas?

I can't think of anything off the top of my head. What exactly do you want
to happen on the slide, and what animation settings did you apply to each
object?

If you right-click one of the animations in the timeline and choose "show
advanced timeline," you may be able to get a better sense of what's
happening when in the animation sequence. You can stretch the taskpane wide
or dock it at the top under your toolbars so it's easier to see what's
happening without having to scroll so much.

Oh, are you using "hide after mouse click" on any of the objects?

Also, which version of PPT?

Basically, I want to introduce objects by animation. I want them to appear
on a click. The first item shows up with a click, but then the rest go crazy
and appear at the end of the previous object. I am really only dealing with
entrance animation and whether it appears on click or after previous. I have
another slide before this one that I got to work fine. I am not using hide
after mouse click. Its kind of driving me crazy.

I am using 2003.

I will try looking at the advanced time line and see if it gives me any clues.

Thanks

I have a few minutes now if you want to email the slide with a quick
explanation of what you want it to do.

You can also double-click the animations on the custom animation task pane
and choose the Timing tab. Make sure there's no delay times set there.

If you have something that is set to "after previous," it will appear after
the previous animation ends. That's what it's supposed to do. I think you
probably know that, but you said the rest of the objects go crazy appearing
at the end of the previous object -- but then you said you're only dealing
with entrances and appearing on click or afger previous, so I'm not sure.
