AnimateWindow and popup window

I'mwriting a popup system for my application.

I'm using the win32 call ShowWindow to show my window.
Now I just stumbled on an other win32 call: AnimateWindow
And while that seems very appropriate for the popups it has the very
infortunate effect of showing a blank window!
All the child control have disappeared!
Any idea what going on?
