animated gifs stop running

Hello,

I have some animated gifs in my presentation. After about 2-3, maybe 4
minutes, the animation stops. How do I keep this going for the duration of
the presentation slide?

I am not using the slideshow animation facility. I'm just letting the gifs
do the work by themselves.

Thank you...Howard

Please tell us more. What version of PowerPoint? Are they on normal slides or
are they on the Master? Are they set to loop indefinitely?

Hi Sonia,

These are not on the master. As a matter of fact I copied them from the MS
online clipart site. The verison of PowerPoint I am using is 2003
(11.5529.5703). I haven't set any loop value for them.

All I did was a copy and used them as is from the web site. The name of it
is Flashing_line.gif from one of the clipart web sites. I know that probably
isn't a lot of help though.

Thank you...Howard

The looping factor is within the file. It isn't a setting that you control in
PowerPoint.

That animated GIF is set to play 233 times and runs for about 3 minutes 5
seconds here. That's probably what you are seeing. You can set it to loop
indefinitely in an animation application like Animation Shop or GIF Construction
Set, or if you want to send me an email, I've modified it and can send it to
you. The caveat is that I don't know if it will continue to play if there is
another animated GIF on the slide. I first tested the original file (set to
233 iterations) with the modified file (set to loop indefinitely) on the same
slide and the one I had set to loop indefinitely also stopped after 3 minutes
when the original one stopped. When the modified animated GIF was on a slide by
itself it ran for 10 minutes, at which point I got more than tired of looking at
it. <G>
