+ and - signs above the column letters

Check out "Group or ungroup rows or columns in an outline" in XL Help.
 
Hey guys

What are those little + and - buttons above the columns
that can be put on a worksheet? When you click the + and -
buttons it makes some columns hide and unhide. I would
like to know how to use these. Can anyone tell me how to
add them?
