Anamorphic DVDs

When I play anamorphic DVDs the picture appears squashed on my PC.
(On my widescreen TV they are stretched horizontally and obviously appear in
the correct proportions)
Is there a setting or upgrade to Windows Media Player that will allow such
DVDs to be viewed as intended on my PC?
I also have Power DVD but can`t find a configuration that does what I want
on that either.
(My monitor is 4:3 screen ratio)

Just discovered how to stretch the picture on Power DVD....just uncheck "eep
aspect ratio" and then drag the window til it looks OK......a bit hit and
miss ...but it works!
Any other ideas gladly received.
