Analysis of measured test results by INTERVAL (variable)

Excel 2003 SP3

Hope this isn't too sketchy....
I have a set of data that is entered into Column A as the Date. Column C
will contain the actual results I've measured. I'd like to review the data
by a VARIETY of intervals. The Column B intervals will be static / constant
at 15 minute. All results are Monday-Friday. [Ignore what's in Column B as
it's unrelated.. It's the day of the week]
Here's what I'd like to do:
1) Analyze the Column C results by [Column A interval selection] Put the
results in Column D
a) Every day - one entry/day-group
b) Every 2 days - one entry/2-day group
c) Every 3 days - one entry/3-day group
d) Every x days - one entry/x-day group (making a, b and c a variable of
'x')
I'm generally SUM() or MIN or MAX the data or even an AVERAGE/MEAN/MEDIAN -
no MODE.
How can I setup a formula/equation so as to combine my Column C data into a
SUM() for 1 row, 2 rows, ... x rows depending on what 'x' is with the
SPECIFIC number (1, 2, 3, ....5) etc.? Just think of my data as temperature
related Temperature at 12Midnight, the high during the day, low during the
day and 12AM again for the end of the day. Each of the temperature values
will be in their own separate column so that, say, Column C contains the
12Midnight (start of day) temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
TIA!
Note: Is there a way to review things by Day of Week? Keep in mind that if
I don't work on Monday (holidays) that I may not have any measurements for
THAT Monday. Hence, I'd like to measure the values between Monday-to-Monday
and Tuesday-to-Tuesday.... Friday-to-Friday etc.
