an unexpected error has occurred. AutoRecover has been disabled .

Hello -
Has anyone experienced a syndrome where AutoRecover has been disabled
automatically? I'm not sure where to go to alter/repair Excel. The message
reads:

An unexpected error has occurred. AutoRecover has been disabled for this
session of Excel.
