AMD Athlon 64 3400+ running too slow

Hi everyone,
I am having trouble getting my Athlon 64 3400+ CPU to actually run at normal
speed under Vista Ulitmate. I have read to other posts on this topic and so
far have established that Cool'n Quiet will not work for me because my
motherboard does not provide the correct APCI information.

In principle I have no problem with this as I don't really care if Cool'n
Quiet is disabled. The problem is no matter what Power Settings I use Vista
only every runs the CPU at 800MHz and not 2200MHz.

I have verified this using many CPU tools and while running CPU intensive
tasks like half life 2 etc... Does anyone know how to make Vista run the CPU
at the native speed?

PS: Under XP x64 it ran happily at the native CPU speed so I don't suspect a
hardware fault.

Cheers,
Ismaan

ps. my system is a FS Amilo A1630 laptop, AMD Athlon 64 3400+, Uniwill
258KA0 motherboard, 1GB RAM.

Which motherboard do you have? I'd guess there is a setting in the
BIOS that needs to be changed. I typically turn off cool and quiet.
AMD 3400's run pretty cool as it is.

All I needed was a bios update - now everything is working just fine!
Ah -- there you go -- glad you got it sorted, and thanks for posting
back the fix.
