Apparently the current tech doesn't show the operator your exact location. They have to extrapolate your position using the tower you are connected to. Sometimes this would lead the officer to a mile away from your actual locations. Apple is working with RapidSOS to update their phones with the ability to send location data.

I'm not sure how it works here in the UK, perhaps they have the same access to triangulation data - but when I've called 999 about a fire and I wasn't sure how to describe where I was (a city I'd never been to), the operator was able to find out where I was pretty quickly somehow. I'd be more than happy if there was a way to send location data really quickly. Seems like a good way to make use of GPS/phone data for once (rather than all the snooping/spyware/ads related stuff we usually here of!).
