I have some digital videos that I downloaded from my camera to my computer,
but the program that used to automatically paly videos no longer works. So,
I went into the directory where the files were located and double cliked on
one and a screen came up asking me to chose which program I wanted to open
the file with. I chose Quicktime and as soon as I clicked "OK" I saw that
the box was checked that asked to "always use this program when opening this
type of file".

I don't know who the genius was that made that box be checked as a default,
but now I can't use any other program to open these types of files. How do I
change the program that opens a certain file type once this box has been
checked?

Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types -> pick a file
type and then decide on a program to open it with but _this time uncheck
the "always use" box_

I'm not sure where "Windows Explorer" is so I went to Start -> Search ->
Tools -> Folder Options, but there was no selection for "File Types".

dnamertz,

Try this;
Start>Run>explorer (typed in the caption box)>Tools>Folder Options>File
Types>. Scroll the list to the file type you want to change and
"uncheck" the "always use" box. ^^
