Alternative to an ATX power switch?

Can i use the reset switch (2 pin i think) from an old AT case as the
power switch for an ATX motherboard? I have an ATX power supply. The
only thing i'm missing is an ATX case with it's power switch and i'm
trying to avoid buying one, even a cheap used one.

Any thoughts appreciated.

the switch is totally non-critical
any normally-open momentary contact switch will do

(such as the reste switch you already have)

That is the setup I use on a motherboard test setup I made. Used the front
panel from an old atx case. Reset switch will work fine as a power switch.
I even temporarily fixed a clients PC doing this when his kid managed to
break the Power switch. They are both momentary contact, normaly off
switches.

Yes, you can do this. Have you got an I/O shield to work for the back
cover of the machine?

No. If i want to build myself a free (well... realativly free) case,
what do i need? Can i just stick everything in a well ventilated
cardboard box?
