Alternative player for DivX?

Hello people.

The official DivX codec stuff seems to have gone (ad/spy)ware. (tries to
install GAIN Advertising). I know I can use any media player + DivX codec, but
the DivX codec "automagically" installs some junk.

Q: Does someone here knows any "alternative" codecs for viewing DivX video
without installing the official codec?

Yes, as a matter of fact I do know of something:

This will install the codecs you need without the ad/spyware. I just found
this tonight as a matter of fact. It finally fixed my no sound issue with
DVD playback in Media Player Classic. Good stuff!

The definitive way to use codecs is here:

This guy recommends uninstalling all your codecs, then installing the
stuff he lists in the order he lists. I did so and can now play a lot
of stuff on my system I couldn't before.

Highly recommended.

The ver I have plays all the DivX AVI's I have come across.
I prob need to update, myself....

<runnin SuSE 9.1, hope this goes thru...just installed a Pan RPM and I
already know I'm gonna like it better than KNode.....at least for binaries,
