I want to upgrade a pc with Win98 to W2K Pro.

However, on Win98 I'm using the "Family Login" client, because my two kids
needs a simple (i.e. without password) way to start the pc for
gaming, just by selecting their name on the shown list and click OK..

Is there a way to replace the standard CtrlAltDel client with a "Family
Login" like client on W2K ? Anyone know of such an alternative client ?

Or is there another (simpler) way to implement what I want ?

TIA, Lars

Under Win2000 you can specify one user for an automatic login,
without having to enter an account name or password (Control
Panel / Users / Users must enter a password).

If you wish to log on under a different account then you can
either hold down the Shift key during the startup process, or
you can log off and on again after the default session is
established.

Thanks, it's a nice work-around.

However, it doesn't answer my question 100%. I would like to use a proper
login client, but one that is a but more point'n'click than the normal one. I
know it's possible, but are there any such clients readily available ?

A Q just off the top of my head: will Win98 family login continue to work
under W2K if it's an upgrade ?

Point and click logins are available in Windows XP,
not in Windows 2000.

I have never tried to upgrade a Win98 machine with
"Family Login" to Windows 2000. I suspect you will get
separate logins, each with its own profile folder.
