The letter to use for various shortcuts using the ALT
key are not underlined anymore. How do I turn that
back on?

Right click an open area on your desktop and select Properties.
This brings up the Display Properties.
Click on the Appearance tab.
Click on the Effects button.
Remove the check mark next to "Hide underlined letters..."
Click OK twice.

Control Panel | Display | Appearance tab | Effects | "Hide
underlined letters for keyboard navigation untill I press the ALt
key"

(found in /Windows XP Annoyances for Geeks/)

Thanks. That fixed it.
