Alpha sort within category

When assigning contacts to categories, how do you alpha sort within the
category?
Right now when I alpha sort, it unsorts by category.

Thanks,

Ick. Outlook 2003 messed this up.
Judy Gleeson has provided the following workaround to overcome the new way
Outlook 2003 sorts the "By Category" view:
Use the Detailed or Simple List view, show the columns you want to see
(field chooser), click the column (eg Last Name) you want to sort by, THEN
use the group by box to group by Category. That should have alphabetical as
well as the grouping.

Thanks for the plug Russ!! I could tell from their problem that they had
2003 - I think it's the worst version btw. I've trained 100's of people in
the last 3 versions! 2003 has the most Microsoft Illogic.

Well I like your workaround the best of any, so I like to give credit where
credit is due.
I was pretty sure they were using Outlook 2003 too, but I've been burned so
many times when I've had to guess the Outlook version, I always ask just to
be sure. Users need to be reminded that posting a question without posting a
version makes most questions impossible to answer.

Are you using the "Customize Current View" dialog to do this?

Yes, I alpha sort by Full name in "Customize Current View", then group by
Category. At taht point it looses the alpha sort.

This is a nightmare! Thanks for all your help though :)!

Works just fine here, but sorting on Full Name may not be what you want.
Full Name is a derived field that you may not have set correctly for all
your existing Contacts. Don't you want to sort by Last Name or one of the
other static name fields?
