AllUsers.Windows

I have a system that when I Start/Explore All Users I see a folder named
All Users.WINDOWS

One effect is that some programs install OK - it somehow finds the folder.
Another program is looking for folder All Users and doesn't find it.

Seems I should rename it to All Users and maybe change something to point to
All Users rather that All Users.WINDOWS.

Any on have any helpful suggestions or info?

All Users.windows usually get's created when a All Users folder allready existed when you install windows, it should make absolutly no difference to applications, to check which one your current version of windows is using right click the start button then explore all users, see what folder it opens up in. If it opens in All users.windows then dont rename/delete it, if it opens into all users then you can safely remove/rename the .windows folder.

Sounds exactly right because there is an All Users folder.

Except one application stored a link in All Users and it is ineffective.

That's how I found it in the first place.

then dont rename/delete it, if it opens into all users then you can safely
remove/rename the .windows folder.

I removed (and saved) the All Users folder which does not seem to be used.

Thanks

Ok like said in previous messages this happened during an upgrade of a sort.

i really need to rename the "All Users.Windows" folder back to just plain old "All Users"

for programs and stuff and other things have already put the installing to that directory.

So how would i go about renaming this folder back to it's orignal name.
;_; thank you for any help

Hi,

Protected system file, you can't rename it.

Programs need to be installed to the proper directory, simply renaming it to
match what was previously there is insufficient.

NOT SO FAST!!! the all users.windows is the re-install to existing all users. DO NOT DELETE THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! when you r-clik start, it will only bring you to the current logged on user. the 'all users.... is MERGED with the logged on user. because of a re-install, the .windows (.anything actually other than networking domain profiles) is going to be the operational profile - just notice how the allusers.whatever > programs has the active color icons!!
