Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me with this before I LOSE
MY MIND!! I have set up a home network with a router, and
occasionally I will bring home my work laptop & hook ip up
via a LAN connection. I never have problems accessing the
internet via the laptop, but sharing files always seems to
be a struggle. This weekend, there are some files I
DESPERATELY need to transfer to my hime desktop, but no
matter what I doi, I get the message on my desktop
"||(Computer) is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have access
permissions. Access is denied". I'm the administrator ...
File sharing is enabled for the network. Again, I can
access the internet on the laptop just fine, but can't get
into my desktop!! I am about to go POSTAL!!!! Please
help, and the lives you save will ensure you good karma for
the rest of your days!!

I'm presuming your work computer belongs to a domain - make sure you don't
change that. I suggest you access your other computer from the laptop,
rather than trying it the other way around. What is the OS on the other
computer? Can you map a drive to a share on that computer, from your laptop,
using

net use x: \\computer\share /user:computer\username

?

XP pro ... the laptop is SP1 and my desktop is SP2. I'll
try what you suggested. thanks!! Any other suggestions if
