All Styles Are Enclosed By Frames

This newsgroup still lives -- hooray!

After using Word 2007 for a few years, I upgraded to Word 2010. (I
actually went from Office 2007 to Office 2010. And I didn't exactly
upgrade; I did a clean install.)

I have discovered that all styles are now enclosed in frames! I've tried
several styles from several style sets, and they all appear inside a
frame. I have to click on the frame border and then 'Remove Frame' each
time I apply a style. This is maddening. How can I fix it?

The most likely cause, though it's hard to see how it could happen, given a
clean install, is that somehow the Normal style has acquired a frame. If you
modify that style and write the change back to the template, it should
affect all the styles that are based on Normal (which is just about all of
them).

Thanks for your help.

If I just delete the Normal template, will it be recreated in its
default form? I'm fine with doing that.

Deleting it will certainly work. But note that you should *rename* Normal, in
case it contains something that you want to keep.

Good idea, that. Thanks again.
