All settings revert to default on reboot

On a new XP Home installation, any changes I make to desktop, network settings, mouse properties, etc. disappear on reboot. Any
ideas on how to fix this problem? Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
 
Hi Jas,

Modify your settings, then run this edit:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
