All-In-Wonder 128 and Multimedia Controller

I noticed that in running Windows XP with SP 1 installed, there is a yellow
question mark in Device Manager on the entry for "Multimedia Controller". I
have an All-In-wonder 128 AGP card, running Multimedia 7.1, file name:
MMC72noDVD.exe. (yes, I know it says 7.2 but it installs as 7.1)

I have deleted the entry and rebooted, WinXP found the device but didn't
have a driver for it. How can it get Multimedia Controller in the "Other
Devices" section to be properly installed?

ATI doesn't support the card anymore :)

Under Sound, Video and Game controllers I have listed...

ATI WDM Rage Theatre Video (all of these are installed ok)

ATI WDM TV Tuner

ATI WDM specialized MVD codec

ATI WDM specialized PCD codec

etc.

I'm using ATI Video Drivers 6.13.3279.0 from 2001. These are the most recent
drivers available.

Thanks

Paul

hmmm I thought the 7192 drivers were the latest.

remove the devices from the 'other devices' heading and reboot

Nope. At least not according to their web page:
http://www.ati.com/support/products/pc/rage128/winxp/rage128winxpdrivers.htm
l?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=11&submit.y=7

remove the devices from the 'other devices' heading and reboot

Did it, and when rebooting WinXP finds the new device but doesn't have a
driver for it. I can install manually but I don't know where THAT SPECIFIC
driver is, without reinstalling all the drivers. (which I've done before
and haven't yet come up with a clean Multimedia Controller/driver/device
entry in Device Manager.

Thanks for trying anyways :)

Hey Paul, I have never seen "multimedia device" in my installs of the 128. are you sure its not a sound card trying to be
installed?

What is listed under Sound and game controllers?

Tuner
codecs MDM/WDM
crossbar
theater audio/video
game port
sound card

They say a picture is worth a thousand words....hope this picture isn't too small :)
(you need to view this in HTML to see the picture of my Device Manager)

Are you sure that's even related to the AIW? Quite often that sort of thing
is caused by a motherboard's onboard audio, even if it's supposedly
disabled. I recall one board I had a couple years ago that, if I used the
onboard sound everything was detected fine, but when it was disabled I had
an odd "Multimedia" device that didn't match up to any driver.

Paul try going into bios and check to see if there is a setting for 'reset configuration data' and if there is a setting for 'PNP OS
installed?' set it to 'no'. HP cmos is so limited in its setting they may not be there.

Except for the codec types (mine were listed from the 9x machine)

the legacy video capture and audio drivers does not look correct I'll have to double check, but I'm almost sure my machine doesn't
list those. Certainly doesn't mean they SHOULDN'T be there either.

do you have the sb live install disk? maybe download the lastest from creative site and the try deleting the 'other devices' again
and all audio that doesn't pertain to ATI

creative SB live value(WDM)
"" gameport
legacy audio drivers
legacy video capture devices
media control devices

run the driver install
reboot
