all groups expanded

In Outlook 2003 (all up to date) whenever I go to the contacts the groups are
all expanded. I collapse all groups and open the one I want but then
whenever I either close and reopen Outlook or even just visit another feature
of Outlook such as email and then go back to contacts, they are all expanded
again. How can I keep them collapsed?

While in that view, go to the View menu > Arrange By > Current View >
Customize Current View > Group By. Change the Expand/Collapse default
dropdown
 
Thanks Vince, I'll do that. How would this get changed by itself because it
used to work fine?
