All Drop Downs "Disappear"

[HELP!!]

Disappear? Or Invisible ?
After working in any application after about 20 mintues,
the drop down menus from file, edit, view, well, just
about anything seem to disappear! Until you run your
cursor over where the drop down should be -- running
cursor over them appears to bring them to the forefront...

Any clues what could have happened???? I'm lost and it's
droving me crazy!

Check for a display driver update. The menus dropping down requires the
screen to be redrawn. It's not happening on your system. Moving the cursor
over the "missing" menu, triggers the highlight of the menu commands and is
allowing them to display.

If one is not available, try adjusting the visual effects. By default XP
will set itself up for "best appearance." You may want to try "best
performance" instead. Or start with "best performance" and add a few
of your favorite effects back in.

These settings are in System Properties> Advanced> Performance> Settings>
Visual Effects.
