All appliccations disappear when I minimize them

Hi, I don't know if I'm in the right community but I have a very disturbing
problem:
when I minimize an application (such as WORD or Internet explorer) I used to
see them at the task bar.
Now, for some reason, I don't.
the only way for me to switch between applications is when I combine ALT+TAB
keys. Then I can see the open windows and switch between them.

can anyone help me to get bring the apps back to the task bar?
