alignment of text when I open a new document

For some reason everytime i open a new document the text alignment is in the
center instead of left align. How do i change this to left align.

Darlene,

It sounds like the "Normal" style has been modified to be centre-aligned. If
you edit the style definition (the process for doing this varies depending on
the version of Word you are using) and change the alignment to left, it
should fix the problem. Just make sure you do this in a way that adds the
style to the normal template, and it should be a permanent fix for all future
documents.
