alg.exe memory hog!!

Hello all,

I recently added SP2 and since I have the alg.exe process will suddenly jump
to anywhere to 60-80% memory usage, bringing my system to its knees. I know
this process is for networking/firewall. This is a business machine and I am
on a network, though I don't know if I need a firewall on my specific
machine since we connect through a router.

Is this a problem common with alg.exe? Can I permanently cancel the service
without hindering my connection?

Not on a network here apart from connection to the internet, my alg.exe
usage is 0%. Sounds like you have a problem elsewhere to me.
