Robert,
That's really close... I've actually seen this particular add-in
before. It's great for sending reminders about meetings or tasks to
you when you're away from your desk. Never miss a meeting again. But,
it's not what I'm looking for.
Here's a more specific example. Let's say you want to know every time
a message is received with "Security Request" in the subject. You can
add a rule to have the message forwarded to your cell phone or another
email, but you don't want to forward the sensitive information that
may be in the message body. Besides, all you want to know is that
there is an important email and you should go check your mail ASAP,
but maybe not immediately. I would like to be able to send an
immediate text message to my cell phone. It would be great if that
message could include the from address and the subject, but not the
body of the message.
Outlook provides for automated replies to messages with a standard
form, but not for an automated forward without the original message
attached. Can you see the advantage? Keep the message small, just tell
me to check my mail. As a work around, I have the messages forward to
another secure email on a Unix box and then a cron checks for these
messages and sends an SMS to my cell phone, "Check your mail." Now,
this works okay, but it's sloppy and when I look at all the things
that Outlook can do, I keep thinking there must be a better way to
send myself a message notification. Grrrr. Any ideas?
It seems like somebody must've figured this one out and I'm just to
dumb. In Outlook 2007, Tools, Options there is a mobile notifications
maybe this feature is in there, but the setup requires a WebDAV and I
don't have one and the proxies and firewalls seem to prevent me from
building my own. :-( Do you know how this mobile notifications thing
works? Is it what I really want?
You might want to take a look at this add-in;

Does anyone know how to get Outlook 2007 to automatically forward an
alert or notification? For example, I know how to use rules to forward
a message with specific words in it or from a specific person; but, I
don't want to forward the whole message. I just want to forward the
from and subject. Is there an Outlook add-in or something that will
help do this?- Hide quoted text -
